Sonja Brown works as the International Program Director for MLJ Adoptionsā programs in Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua and Samoa. Sonja also works directly with our Individualized Country Program families who are adopting from countries where no adoption service providers currently operate. She is proud to be a part of an adoption agency willing to serve families who desire to adopt from these countries and to provide options for the orphaned children.
Sonjaās favorite parts of her job include matching waiting families with waiting children, the opportunities to travel and advocate, developing new country programs, and being a part of when a child arrives home. The end of an international adoption journey is very emotional and such a joyous occasion; she loves having the opportunity to be a part of her familiesā journeys.
Being raised in a loving permanent family provided Sonja with confidence and the skills necessary to navigate her world. The love, support and security she received from her parents enabled her to be successful. Ā Sonja is a mom to three adult children.
She earned her Bachelorās Degree from the University of Indianapolis in Psychology and Sociology. She continued her education with a Masterās Degree in Business & Human Relations. In addition to working at MLJ Adoptions, Sonja volunteers for the Global Orphan Foundation and as a Guardian Ad Litem for Kidās Voice of Indiana.
