Name: Anastasia Huffman
Title at MLJ: Administrative Assistant
What do you actually DO with MLJ? I am a utility player- I help out where ever I am needed, which includes organization and filing duties.
What is your favorite part about what you do with MLJ? Being a part of the bigger picture- even if it is just organizing files so that the team has all the resources at their fingertips and in one location.
How long have you worked with MLJ? Since May 2015
What do you think makes you excellent at what you do? I am very flexible and up for anything.
What do you love about adoption? I am a definition girl, what I love about adoption can purely be found in the definition of adopt: to take choice into a relationship; especially: to take voluntarily (a child of other parents) as one’s own child. It is your choice to welcome a child into your family and make it their family.
If you could change one thing about adoption what would it be, why, and how? Cost: there are many families who would love to add to adopt but the numbers are a hindrance. I am not sure of a solution, but I will be thinking about it.
What is one thing you wish more people understood about the adoption process? HurriedPatience. There is a lot of the process that is in your hands and can be processed as quick as you can get it to us, but there are other parts that are a whole lot of waiting. You and MLJ are only in control of what happens in the application and money phases but there are large parts of patience in both of our hands waiting for the government and other countries parts.
What do you want to tell us about your family? I grew up in the cultural melting pot of San Antonio, Texas with my dad who is from England and my second mom from Mexico. I was able to travel some with my mom in Alaska and my grandparents in their native lands. I married my husband, John, in 2009 and became Auntystasia to six wonderful nieces and nephews. We relocated to Indiana in 2014 with our fur baby, Jaek the cat.
When not working, what do you do for fun or to relax? More often than not I am hanging out with the FBC Greenwood students at their games or competitions (my husband is a student pastor) but I love to swim, read, blog and hang out at coffee shops or bookstores.
Any other fun, interesting facts about you? I was a professional mascot for Six Flags Fiesta Texas and involved in 13 clubs and organizations in high school.
