On May 14th, MLJ hosted an open house for current clients, as well as prospective clients interested in Bulgaria. Stephanie and Josh Cox brought their recently adopted 4 year old twins and shared their experience with everyone. Stephanie and Josh told of how beautiful the country of Bulgaria is and described in detail their adoption journey.

Stephanie shared the medical information on the children and talked to families about how scary the medicals can be, buthow she and Josh were able to get past the fears and contacted Dr. Julie Keck, of Riley Hospital’s International Adoption Clinic for advice. The Cox’s sent Dr. Keck the medicals, photos and videos of the children for her assessment. With all the information in hand, Stephanie and Josh were encouraged to move forward.

The Cox’s also stated that MLJ uses one of the top organizations in Bulgaria to work with to do adoptions. The staff there took care of every detail and guided them through every step while they were in Bulgaria. They were also very impressed by the orphanage in Bulgaria and the level of care their children had received.

Stephanie walked everyone step by step through the details of the trip, the process, and the emotions she and Josh went through. While Stephanie shared, Josh sat with the active twins trying to keep them busy. As they sat their playing, it was hard for families to not pay attention to how adorable they were, hear how much English they had acquired in just a month’s time and how well adjusted they seemed to be. It was a great opportunity for everyone who came to see face to face, how precious and beautiful the children of Bulgaria are and to hear from someone that has been through the process, just how worthwhile the experience is.

For me, as the program director of Bulgaria, when I saw the beautiful faces of the two children that I had prayed for a family, I was overcome by the emotion and overwhelmed by the blessing of being able to be a small part of their journey to their family. I pray that they are just the first of many children from Bulgaria that will come home to loving families.
