Orphan Sunday occurs each year, and is an opportunity for Christians and the adoption community to stand on behalf of children who have been orphaned and become involved in meeting their needs.
Started as an initiative led by the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO), Orphan Sunday‘s goal is to respond to God’s call to care for the orphan. Churches and organizations across the world participate in Orphan Sunday in different ways. CAFO has a list of ways that families and organizations can participate in Orphan Sunday. As an organization, MLJ Adoptions has previously participated in Orphan Sunday in a variety of ways – by sending speakers to churches, hosting booths and publishing blogs.

Pastor David Platt says, “Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. It can be a catalyst for getting families involved in caring for vulnerable children locally and globally.
