Apr

We here at MLJ Adoptions think that it’s important to attend the Initial Adoption Information Seminar that we offer to prospective clients. We have one coming up on April 11, 2013. Here are 5 reasons we think you should attend:

  1. The Seminar is FREE to All

MLJ Adoptions, Inc.’s Initial Adoption Information Seminars are free to all couples and individuals interested in international adoption. These seminars are offered in person to those in the Indiana area as well as telephonically for those who do not reside within driving distance of downtown Indianapolis. For no cost, you will have the opportunity to learn all about the international adoption process and ask an adoption professional any questions that you may have about the adoption process.

  2. Getting to Know the Personality of MLJ Adoptions

All adoption agencies have distinctive personalities, MLJ Adoptions is no different. It is of the utmost importance that prospective adoptive parents find an agency that has the right personality for their family. Attending an Initial Adoption Information Seminar is one of the best ways to determine which agency would be a good fit for your family. It is vital to speak to a real person from the agency, and not merely depend on adoption agency reviews or blogs found online. Adoption is far too big a decision to make without taking the time to speak with an adoption professional from any agency that you are considering. I encourage you to ask MLJ and all agencies that you are considering the hard questions. We understand the enormity of the decision to expand your family through international adoption and the emotional and financial commitment that goes along with selecting an agency. We will answer your questions thoroughly and honestly, as we want you to make the best decision for your family.

  3. Educating Yourself about the Adoption Process

The international adoption process is complex, primarily due to the four areas of law involved: state, federal, foreign and international. International adoption is ever-changing and no more so than over the recent few years. Much of the information found online and in books becomes quickly outdated and often cannot be relied upon. There is also an incredible amount of misinformation found online. During the Initial Adoption Information Seminar, I will discuss the current international adoption processes in a simplified way for prospective adoptive parents who are at the early stages of the international adoption process. We will discuss the current processes for home studies, adoption preparation education, how children are matched in international adoption, immigration and adoption as well as support services and post-adoption services.

  4. Educating Yourself about Your Adoption Options

There are many options for bringing a child home through international adoption. During the Initial Adoption Information Seminar, I will discuss the differences between Hague Convention Adoptions and non-Hague programs and each country program that MLJ offers specifically. MLJ provides placement services from Bulgaria, Congo, Haiti, Nicaragua, Honduras, Samoa and Ukraine. Each country program is different based on the unique laws and policies within each country. During the Initial Adoption Information Seminar I will be answering questions such as: Do I qualify to adopt a child from another country?; What are the characteristics of the child that I would be matched with?; How long will the international adoption process take?; and How much with the adoption cost?. Many other questions will also be addressed.

  5. Educating Yourself about the Risks in Adoption

There are many risks in both domestic adoption and international adoption. We will focus on the risks involved in international adoption during the seminar. The risks that we will discuss include risks in involved with travel, lost referrals, changes in laws or regulations, etc. During this seminar I will answer questions such as: What would happen if the country closed to adoption?; What happens if I got pregnant during the adoption process?; What happens if after I am matched with the child the referral is lost?. Many other questions will be answered. In addition, we are more than happy to answer any individual questions that you may have.

The next scheduled in-person seminar will be on April 11, 2013 from 6pm – 8pm at 617 E. North Street, click here to RSVP. In addition, if you would like to schedule a free individual telephonic consultation to discuss international adoption, please feel free to contact our offices at 317-875-0058.
