MLJ is Celebrating 10 years!

This year MLJ Adoptions is celebrating our 10-year anniversary! MLJ Adoptions International was initially founded in 2009 by Michele L. Jackson, Attorney at Law and an international adoption advocate.  When founded the agency was known at the time as “MLJ Adoptions Inc.” Licensed in the state of Indiana in 2009 MLJ soon received our first Hague approval to operate as a primary provider.

Over the years we have changed our name, and the landscape of international adoption has changed substantially, but MLJ has never changed our mission, to find loving and permanent homes for children in need of families, while providing ethical and adoption services to families who hope to expand their families through international adoption.

Since our humble beginnings, we have placed nearly 500 children in countries from across the globe including Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Honduras, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua Nigeria, Samoa, Sudan, Tanzania, Ukraine and Zimbabwe. We currently are providing services as well in Egypt, Liberia and Peru.

Sadly, we watch the numbers of international adoptions by U.S. families continue to plummet every year, as reported by the National Council for Adoption, an over 82% decline since 2004 , despite the growing need for forever families globally.  However, MLJ continues to forge forward with our mission and to seek new ways to serve the needs of children in need of families as well as to serve the needs of adoptive parents hoping to add to their families through international adoption.

MLJ Adoptions’ team consists of experienced and dedicated professionals who are committed to finding homes for parentless children.  Many of our staff have adopted or have been touched by adoption personally, so their love and commitment for what they do shows through every day and this has contributed to our success.

We are proud of our accomplishments over the last decade and know that the placement of children by the agency has left footprints in the lives of children and families.  We look forward to continued accomplishments as we continue down our path and hope you will join us in our mission on changing the lives of children in need and adoptive families.
