MLJ Adoptions will host an Adoption Day for Indianapolis locals touched by adoption. The event will be held at Victory Field where the Indianapolis Indians will take on the Louisville Bats. Even though our focus is on international adoption, we feel July 4th is a great way to rejoice and honor adopted children as NEW Americans and it’s always more fun celebrating special moments like that together with others. We are hoping this day is filled with meaningful memories for many children and their families.
Jordan Kelly, an assistant at MLJ shares, “July 4th presents an opportunity for parents to speak with their child about belonging. Everyone craves a sense of belonging, and taking part in patriotic festivities allows them to gain a sense of pride in their new country and build self-esteem.” For adoptive parents, times like these help us to remember how lucky we are to live at liberty in this country and give thanks that these children are now able to experience the same freedoms we have had all our lives.
Senior Ticket Sales Executive with the Indianapolis Indians, Ryan Barrett claims that tickets for July 4th sell out every year, and usually a few days before the game. The fireworks make the night special for attendees, and if the Indians pull a “W” for the night, they ring the Victory Bell to celebrate!
