Bulgarian Program Update

I would like to take this time to share a couple of items of good news for our Bulgarian Adoption program. A week ago, our first family arrived in Sofia, Bulgaria, to meet the children they were referred! I will be sharing more in the next week or two about their trip – they promised photos and a travel journal!

Also, I recently received good news from our staff in Bulgaria about our program, that I would like to share! In a recent meeting of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), they shared that they have received a lot children from the social services, and the MOJ is registering these children, whom are younger in age and without special needs. It is expected that families registered currently registered with the MOJ will begin to start receiving healthy referrals. It is also anticipated that new families will have shorter wait times for healthier and younger referrals.

Our program just opened in May of 2010, and it is getting off to a great start! It is our hope that 2011 will be an exciting time for families wanting to adopt from Bulgaria! Bulgaria is open to singles and married couples, with few restrictions. If you have an interest or would like more information about our Bulgarian program, please do not hesitate to contact me.
