Join Us in Celebrating National Adoption Month

National Adoption MonthOn Sunday, churches around the globe celebrated Orphan Sunday, a movement by the Christian Alliance for Orphans to raise awareness about how the call to care for the orphaned children of the world is a burden shared by all. Orphan Sunday, historically the first Sunday of November, is the first large-scale movement in the month of November designed to bring attention to the need for those to care for the orphan both nationally and internationally.

For the nineteenth year, November has been recognized as National Adoption Month. This special month is dedicated to bring awareness to the importance of adoption in providing loving, stable homes to children in need. This year, National Adoption Month focuses on “Promoting and Supporting Sibling Connections.” Over the last two decades, research has demonstrated the critical nature of sibling bonds and their importance for children’s development and emotional well being.

Each year, National Adoption Month selects a different focus, but the main goal is to raise awareness of the need for adoption — adopting internationally and adopting domestically, through private adoption and through the foster care system. Adoption gives children the opportunity for a stable family environment, which will impact their education, social development and health.

National Adoption Month website has resources available to families who are interested in learning more about adoption or how to support families who are adopting or have adopted. The opportunity to care for the world’s most vulnerable children is not just one for the families who decide to pursue adoption, but everyone. Even just learning more about the adoption process can help you learn more about how to best support adoptive and foster families.

We invite you to join the many organizations and advocates who are dedicated to raising awareness about the urgent need for permanent families for children in United States and for orphaned children around the world. MLJ Adoptions will be at the Central Indiana events listed below. We invite you to join us. If you do not live in Central Indiana, but are interested in learning more about the National Adoption Day Celebrations near you, here is a list of events.

November 6 – National Adoption Day Celebration (Marion County)
