How to Love Adoption this Valentine’s Day

Valentine's DayAdoptionAdoption in our house is something to love. We love it because our boys were brought into our family and our hearts through adoption. Every day we are reminded of the joy, excitement and craziness they bring to our lives (they are both almost 3!).

As an adoptive mother I am always trying to think of ways to show my children how much I love adoption and therefore, love them.

Here are some ideas for you and your family:

  • Make Valentine’s Day Cards with birth country theme (my boys are from DRC);
  • Make a special family meal for the kids to enjoy for Valentines (Valentine’s Day can be enjoyed by not just the adults) and include a traditional dish from their birth countries;
  • Talk about all the things that you love and include things from their birth family or country;
  • Make a collage (good for young children) with a huge heart and all the things they keep in it and include something that signifies their birth parents and birth country;
  • Read books about adoption and love all month long.

Many of these things can done all year long but is especially nice to remember during Valentine’s Day. I wish you and your family lots of love this Valentine’s Day!
