Title at MLJ: Coordinator for Latin American Adoptions
What do you actually do with MLJ? I help families through the dossier process and answer all questions they may have. I deal directly with our lawyers in the chosen country and gather any needed information from them for families.
What is your favorite part about what you do with MLJ? I love feeling like I am assisting in the process that has been established to find homes for children in need of love, support and consistency.
How long have you worked with MLJ? Since June 2015.
What do you think makes you excellent at what you do? I am detail oriented and so find it enjoyable and fairly easy to keep records, databases and paperwork organized.
What do you love about adoption? I love that children who are in orphanages around the world can find their forever family through adoption.
If you could change one thing about adoption what would it be, why and how? I would make it easier for families to apply for grants and loans. It would be great for more families to be able to afford adoption because there is such a great need.
What is one thing you wish more people understood about the adoption process? I would love it if more families would consider adopting children who are older or not infants because there is a great need everywhere and these children deserve love and stability.
What do you want to tell us about your family? I have extended family who live all over the world. It is always great to be able to travel and visit family in different countries. I have a 2 year old girl who keeps me busy.
When not working, what do you do for fun or to relax? I love to go on bike rides, gardening helps me relax as well as reading and watching movies. I love to play with my daughter and watch her learn new things. My husband and I enjoy going to the theatre.
Any other fun, interesting facts about you? I am originally from Ecuador and just got back from a visit with family who met my daughter for the first time.
