On April 10th and 11th, in partnership with Empowered to Connect, MLJ Adoptions will be livecasting the Empowered to Connect conference occurring in San Antonio, Texas. Our livecast is open to everyone and will take place in Indianapolis, IN.
Throughout the training, Dr. Purvis, together with Michael & Amy Monroe, will educateĀ adoptive and foster parents, ministry leaders and professionals on how to understand connecting with āchildren from hard placesā in order to help them heal and thrive.
Karyn B. Purvis, Ph.D., is one of the prominent researchers in the area of child development. She directs Texas Christian Universityās Institute of Child Development and is the author of several books, includingĀ The Connected Child. Through her research and experience, Dr. Purvis has shed light on troubled behaviors and helped parents see past the behavior to a childās hurts. Adoption is birthed out of loss and for some families this can be a hard reality to face. Her books and trainings have given hope to families and equipped parents to better meet the needs of their child.
The livecast presents adoptive families, adoption professionals and those involved with adoption ministries with an excellent opportunity to learn more about attachment and bonding of children who have experienced trauma. The two days of training will be full of ideas to foster growth and bonding in children from hard places.
