Orphan Hosting Families Needed for Holiday Season

MLJ Adoptions is thrilled to announce that we will be offering a Hosting Program and bringing a group of Ukrainian children to the Indianapolis area in December! We started the orphan hosting program in 2007 and have brought over 150 children to Indiana and surrounding areas, which resulted in over 130 children finding their forever families. The Ukraine Hosting Program is very near and dear to my heart as I met three of my Ukrainian children through hosting. It was a life-changing experience for our family and I am sure it could be for you as well.ukraine hosting program

Host families are needed for the children coming over the winter holidays. It is a great opportunity to show a child the love of a family and American culture. Hosting is a wonderful opportunity to see if adopting an older child might be right for your family. A child over the age of 6 has only a 5% chance of being adopted. Other statistics are also very bleak for older children without families; once they age out of the orphanage system, they often turn to lives of crime or prostitution in attempts of providing for themselves. When families are able to meet older children, many times the fear of adopting an older child dissipates, and families feel compelled to adopt.

If adoption is not an option for your family, advocating for a child is also very important. Introducing your host child to your family, friends, church and community opens up doors to adoption and pathways for advocacy. Opening your home to hosting a child puts a face to the orphan crisis. An orphan is no longer nameless, and unknown, but he or she has a valuable story to share.

Children coming in December range from seven to eleven years old and are listed below:

Boy, 8 years old
Girl, 7 years old
